Fast Blu-ray loading times, but the lack of an app store and a front panel display ruin it This Blu-ray player looks quite nice, but I think that is rather irrelevant considering its primary purpose is to play discs. This player loads Blu-rays fairly quickly, loading Skyfall in about 10 seconds, which is pretty good, considering the price range of this player. The remote remains unchanged from last year, apart from the addition of glow in the dark play, pause, forward, back, buttons, which this player’s predecessor, the BD-E5500, did not have. However, there are some strange omissions: the lack of an app store means that one has to rely on Samsung to add new apps, rather than being able to add them yourself. The fatal flaw is the lack of a front panel display. I didn’t think this would be a problem at first, however, after leaving the Blu-ray player on all night, thinking it was off, was extremely annoying. This has happened multiple times now. I have never owned a DVD or Blu-ray player without a front panel display so why it’s not there…

Great little dvd Previously I had an expensive multi-region 3d HD dvd, which eventually needed a new laser as the discs were sticking. I decided it was less expensive to purchase another dvd player, only without multi-region facilities and this one is perfect. Easy to use and excellent quality picture.
