Capable of playing Blu-ray discs, DVDs and CDs, be it retail, writeable or rewriteable it also boasts an integrated HD Media Player, USB Port and SD card reader, so you can enjoy your digital music, video and photo files on the go in almost any format.

Sound can be output in Dolby Digital Plus, Dolby TrueHD and DTS formats either through the integrated speaker or on your headphones via 3.5mm audio out.

With support for BD live 2.0 you are able to access a variety of up-to-date content, such as previews, ringtones and games.

Whilst at home, you can connect the HBD 1000 to an HDTV via HDMI, allowing you to enjoy your Blu Ray discs and multimedia files on your full size living room set.

Cheap & functional A year or two ago the market seemed to be bursting with portable DVD and blu-ray players. Not so now, this is one of the few reasonably priced choices left. Thankfully, it does a pretty good job (for the money).It plays just about every format, supports BD-Live (with a network connection), has enough battery life to just about watch a full length movie (provided you don’t pause for too long), comes with a power adaptor and has a good range of connections (HDMI for video out, RJ-45 for ethernet network, SD card and USB for portable media). It comes with a fairly substantial remote control that you’d be forgiven belongs with a regular (non-portable)device, although if you’re using it on the road then all of the buttons you need are neatly laid out on the top of the player.Construction-wise, it’s got a pretty plasticky feel to it. You’ll probably want to invest in a padded case to keep it from harm as I doubt it will stand up to too many knocks and drops. The…
